So we beat on, boats against the current, borne back ceaselessly into the past

In the wake of what has transpired the night before, I believe it is imperative that I register my disappointment with the forum letter published yesterday, inaptly titled "Counsel idiosyncratic teachers too". While I have had many unhappy times with the person mentioned so scathingly by Mrs. Ng, I cannot say that I share her sentiments on this particular issue, especially when her work sorely lacks the twin merits of style and substance. Many of her comments are irrelevant and immaterial to the point at hand, and (credit must go to Freud here for explaining this mysterious ailment) her writing seems to mirror her unconscious mind, harbouring unwittingly hidden innuendos.

"Looking elsewhere or at certain parts of the anatomy might be interpreted as disrespect or disinterest [sic]."

While being cognisant of the author's budding talent, with her impressive use of repetition to reinforce the sense of outrage she no doubt intended to evoke in the reader

"Mind you, this is a top independent school"

and her excellent employment of hyperbole,

"One boy even goes to the extent of reading the obituary every morning to see if her photograph is there"

may I suggest that she lays off her pen on subsequent occasions lest she mars her decidedly bright future literary career with such uninspired debuts.
